Our Redeemer is a community of people who are striving to follow Christ in both word and action. Here's what you'll see when you visit:
WORSHIP: God calls on all followers of Jesus to regular worship (gathering with other brothers/sisters in Christ). Within that gathering of believers everyone present has the opportunity to hear and learn from God's Word, the Bible that is preached, spoken, and taught. We are given the chance to hear from God and His Word. In turn, we get to respond with our songs, hymns, and prayers. Also, there is the opportunity to admit our disobedience towards God and to hear of God's sure and certain forgiveness. Last and certainly not least, we come together to receive Christ's Supper in bread and wine.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION: Christian Education at Our Redeemer takes many forms. We offer Sunday school for students in Pre-K through 5th Grade, Confirmation Class for 6th through 8th Grade students, Sunday morning Bible class for adults. We also offer Small Group studies during the week. During the summer months OR hosts a 5-day Vacation Bible school for the children of our congregation and community.
STUDENT MINISTRY: Student ministry at OR focuses on students in grades 6 through 12. Student Ministry activities and gatherings strive to connect young people to Christ and His teaching.
YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY: YA Ministry at OR seeks to reach into the lives of 20 and 30 somethings that they might encounter Christ in fellowship with one another.
OUTREACH/MERCY MINISTRY: The members of Our Redeemer desire to reflect the compassion and mercy of Christ to each other, our community, and to all the world. So, the members of OR help in corporate acts of mercy such as food, clothing, and toiletry collections, Meals on Wheels, Water Bottle distribution, and community meals.
PARISH NURSING/ VISITATION: Sometimes illness or disability separates people from their Christian family. When such circumstances arise, our Pastor, Parish Nurses, and other caring members of OR bring the good gift of God's Word to those in need through home visits.
SONSHINE PRESCHOOL: Our Redeemer also operates Sonshine Preschool offering half-day classes for 3 and 4 year olds. Through Sonshine, the members of OR seek to share Christ with families and children in Prospect Heights and the surrounding area.
